Promoting Cultural Competency
MEDC defines cultural
competence to mean understanding the values,
principles and customs of different cultures. Respect for an
individual's cultural domains and experiences is essential if service
providers and others are to effectively engage people of color. Our
Cultural Competency Training and Education program helps organizations
recognize and implement culturally competent practices, enabling them
to better meet the diverse needs of all communities in King County.
