POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The instructor will be responsible for teaching and providing leadership in a variety of courses which may include Physics in Everyday Life, General Physics, Physics for Scientists and Engineers, and Introductory Astronomy.  Part of the teaching assignment may include late afternoon and/or evening classes.  In addition to teaching, this position will require:  (1) developing and modifying curricula; (2) advising students in related programs; (3) participating in department/division activities; and (4) performing related professional responsibilities.  This is a tenure-track position that reports to the Dean of the Natural Sciences and Mathematics Division.

The Division/Department is especially interested in recruiting applicants with diverse backgrounds to teach our increasingly diverse student population.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in physics or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated successful teaching experience in the field of physics at the undergraduate level equivalent to at least one academic quarter.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written English.

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Evidence of excellence in teaching.
  • Community college teaching experience in physics or a related field.
  • Ability to teach astronomy or other physical science as evidenced by upper division courses in the appropriate area.

PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The instructor will be responsible for teaching and providing leadership in a variety of Digital Forensics and Information Security classes in the Computer Information Systems (CIS) Department.  In addition to teaching, this position will require: (1) developing and modifying curricula; (2) advising students in related academic programs; (3) participating in department/division and advisory board activities; (4) managing the forensics lab and clean room, including creating hard drive images and lab setup for classes; (5) managing and mentoring interns; (6) developing industry contacts for job placement, internship opportunities, and advisory board members; (7) participating in training as necessary; (8) leading in program marketing opportunities; and (9) performing related professional responsibilities.  The teaching assignment may include early morning or late afternoon/evening classes.  The assignment will also include teaching online or hybrid classes.  This is a tenure-track position that reports to the Dean of the Natural Sciences and Mathematics Division.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Security/Digital Forensics or a related field AND two years of industry experience; OR five years of industry experience AND industry certifications equivalent to a bachelor’s degree.
  • Demonstrated successful teaching experience in Information Security/Digital Forensics at the undergraduate level equivalent to at least one academic year.
  • Demonstrated online or hybrid teaching experience.
  • Excellent speaking, listening, writing, problem solving and critical thinking skills.

  • Evidence of excellence in teaching and focus on student learning.
  • Additional teaching experience at a community college.

CLIENT SERVICES DIRECTOR

Tacoma Community House is seeking a strong leader for a newly created position of Client Services Director. The Client Services Director will oversee all client services programs in a newly reorganized agency structure.  We are seeking a leader with strong collaboration skills who can build a team and help develop the managers that he/she will supervise. Tacoma Community House is a 101 year old Human Services agency, begun as a Settlement House to serve immigrants. Today we serve immigrants, refugees and low income youth and adults, helping them to become self-sufficient.

Position overview:

This is an administrative and professional position under the supervision of the Executive Director with overall responsibility for the Client Services Department. This position oversees program planning for all client services and supervises the client services staff. The Client Services Director is a member of the Management Team.

 

The Client Services Director will have the following responsibilities:

 

  • Lead the planning, developing and overseeing of new programs and services
  • Coordinate and mobilize resources for services through proposal writing and advocacy activities
  • Supervise all client services managers and administrative staff
  • Evaluate and monitor program activities and staff performance
  • Oversee preparation and administration of program budgets and reports to funding sources
  • Participate in community planning and organizing activities and represent the agency’s client services needs
  • Oversee selection of program staff
  • Participate in intra-agency planning, collaborative projects and decision-making activities
  • Actively develop community partnerships that enhance and align with the TCH Mission and goals
  • Advocate for target population needs at local and state level meetings

Minimum Qualifications:

The successful candidate must be able to think creatively, act resourcefully, and exhibit excellent communication skills, both written and oral.

 

  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of related experience and/or education.
  • 5 years experience in program management in adult education and/or human services, including managing multiple programs simultaneously
  • Demonstrated successful proposal writing experience
  • 5 years supervisory experience, preferably supervising supervisors
  • Experience working with low income or disadvantaged populations
  • Experience working within a culturally and linguistically diverse environment Experience working with funders and community partners to advocate for client and agency interests
  • Excellent skills in the following areas:

o   Planning and budgeting

o   Supervision

o   Proposal writing

o   Computer skills

o   Demonstrated ability to work independently under tight deadlines

o   Demonstrated ability to manage multiple programs simultaneously

o   Sensitivity to cultural differences

 

Preferred qualifications include:

Compensation:

Job Description:

The Win/Win Network is a forward‐thinking collaborative that seeks to achieve socially responsible policies by increasing civic engagement in underrepresented communities, enhancing capacity of partner organizations, and improving communication and collaboration. The Win/Win Network has now launched the Washington Asian American & Pacific Islander Voices in Education Initiative in an effort to blend community based participatory research, civic engagement, capacity building, and community organizing in Washington’s Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities. The primary goal of the Voices Initiative is to prepare leaders and organizations in AAPI communities to be full partners in education policy making in Washington State.

The Win/Win Network is seeking an exceptional candidate for the Program Coordinator position. The Program Coordinator is responsible for building the Voices Initiative, developing workshops, recruiting participants, and providing capacity building support to partner organizations. This position will report directly to the Advisory Council.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Developing and implementing a detailed work plan for the project, including specific steps to meet preset milestones and evaluation methods.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with leaders in and members of the AAPI community.
• Recruiting participants for focus groups and workshops.
• Analyzing and reporting results of focus group to Gates Foundation and Advisory Council.
• Conducting both in‐person focus groups and telephone surveys regarding AAPI families’ navigation of the educational system.
• Overseeing the design and execution of multiple interactive workshops, presentations, and summits.
• Providing on‐going support and training of online tools to partner organizations.
• Facilitating workshops, discussions, and cross‐cultural partnerships.
• Coordinating AAPI civic engagement activities across the state.

• Managing relationships, subgrantee contracts, and overall budget and reporting obligations as required under the Voices Initiative grant with The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
• Administrative support to Programs Director as needed.
• Additional duties may be assigned within the course of the work.

Qualifications:

Experience:
• Three to five years of outreach or organizing experience.
• Experience with CRM platforms, such as Salesforce or Salsa.
• Experience with program delivery and evaluation.
• Experience working with communities of color or AAPI communities.
• Familiarity or knowledge of WA public education systems and policies.

• Ability to work independently with broad guidance.
• Extraordinary communication skills (both written and oral) and the ability to appropriately handle people from all levels of involvement, from government officials to parents within the AAPI community.

• Ability to assess changing priorities.
• Exceptionally well‐organized and flexible, with strong time management skills.
• Strong technology skills and comfort using and learning new software platforms.
• Ability to learn quickly, with an interest in community building/or the education system.
• Strong analytic and problem solving skills.
• Ability to dissect complex information.
• Familiarity with Google’s online tools and features.
• Bilingual (in an AAPI language) a plus.
• Willingness and ability to travel around the entire state.
